At canin.ma, we take protecting your personal data seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how you can stay in control of it.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we receive your name and profile photo from Google. You can then add your phone number and city so buyers can reach you. When you publish a listing, we store its title, description, price, photos and location. We also keep the messages you exchange through in-app messaging, the reviews you leave or receive, and any reports you file.
How we use this information
We use this information only to run the marketplace: displaying your listings, connecting buyers and sellers, moderating content before it goes live, handling reports, and improving the service. We never sell your data to third parties, and canin.ma does not carry any third-party advertising.
Signing in with Google
canin.ma uses Google sign-in exclusively. We never receive or store your Google password — authentication is handled entirely by Google. On your first sign-in, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us to create your canin.ma account.
What we share, and with whom
The name, city and phone number you provide are visible to anyone viewing your listings — this is necessary so buyers can reach you directly by phone or WhatsApp, with no middleman. We use Supabase to host our database, authentication and photo storage; this provider processes your data on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
Cookies and local storage
canin.ma does not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Your preferred language and your list of saved listings are stored only in your browser's local storage: this information stays on your device and is never sent to us.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account stays active. A listing that's deleted or marked sold is removed from public view but may be kept for a limited time for moderation and fraud-prevention purposes. You can request full deletion of your account and data at any time.
Your rights
Under Moroccan Law No. 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your data. To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@canin.ma; we respond within 30 days.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and restricted access to our database. No system is completely secure, so please never share sensitive information (passwords, banking details) through in-app messaging.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the service or to applicable law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated, and we'll flag significant changes to you.
